The messages from our former DGs are stated as below:

Justice (R) Ch. Shahid Saeed
Former Director General
May 2015 - Jun 2016

Learning never ends. To read is the first command of Almighty Allah and to gain knowledge is emphasized by Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) as well. It is, therefore, our duty to make every effort to achieve the object of gaining and sharing of knowledge. This duty is more important for those who have the onerous responsibility to participate in dispensation of justice.

The Punjab Judicial Academy, established under the Punjab Judicial Academy Act, 2007, became functional in 2009 and began imparting training to judicial officers and court personnel with a view to develop their capacity,  professional competency and ethical standards for efficient dispensation of justice. As mandated by the Punjab Judicial Academy Act 2007, the functions of the Academy include developing the techniques and skills of the judicial officers and court staff for court management, case management, delay reduction, alternate dispute resolution and judgment writing. The main function of the Academy is to impart pre-service training and in-service training to the judicial officers and court personnel. We, therefore, leave no stone unturned and endeavor to our best to develop skills and attitudes of judicial officers and court staff, to enable them to participate effectively in dispensation of justice. It would be pertinent to remember here the following time tested sayings:

  • Human progress in neither automatic nor inevitable; every step towards the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.
  • Absolute justice is achieved by suppression of all contradictions; therefore it destroys freedom.
  • Justice is a machine that when someone has once given it the starting push, rolls on of itself.

Syed Khurshid Anwar Rizvi
Former Director General

Sea is common for all. Some take pearls, others take fish and some come out with just wet legs. Punjab Judicial Academy is just like sea of legal knowledge. We endeavour that whosoever comes here for learning, he should take pearls from it instead of just getting legs wet.

The Punjab Judicial Academy being a premier institute of judicial education in Punjab aims at providing an opportunity to the judicial officers, legal professionals and court personnel to receive professional, judicial and legal education. The Academy aims at providing an environment to improve their capacity, professional competence and to raise the ethical standards so that justice can be administered in courts in a better way and the litigants being end users of justice system feel confident and dignified about the justice delivery. The academy has taken up the daunting challenge of providing judicial education of international standard. To meet the challenge of innovations and developments in society as also the information technology explosion, the Academy envisions at providing quality research on all fronts of law, justice, information and technology. Justice (R) Syed Jamshed Ali
Former Director General
April 2013 - December 2013

Hold the scales of justice even without any fear or favour so that the stream of justice flows unpolluted. Keep your mind open and the mouth shut. Patience, humility, grace, impartiality, clarity of thought, passion and compassion will turn you into a good  human being and a good judge. To be known as such is the greatest reward. Beware that self-conceit will inflate your ego and may take away what you have earned. Audit your performance daily to determine whether the day was spent purposefully or wasted. Particularly, see if you have learned something even if it is only a single word.

Justice (R) Tanvir Ahmed Khan
Former Director General
August 2008 - March 2013

Allah almighty in His grace has bestowed upon you the functions of dispensation of justice among the pauperized millions while doing so you must keep in front of you the following three Ahadith Mubaraka of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) Never injure the feelings of others and always try to solace them and your behavior with the public shall be gentlemanly, courteous and polite but the same time firm and dignified.

Always try to facilitate others. Whatever treatment you consider best for yourself, the same should be preferred for others. While doing so, never let yourself be influenced by the paucity of means, time, influence and educational advantages; instead your aim should be to do thing(s) with what you have at the relevant moment. This would certainly lay a solid impact on the lives you have touched.
